... "Who is this David?  Who is this son of Jesse?"  With this, David's name is cursed and Nabal does not know that he has cursed the name of the Lord.

Welcome back to The Road2Wholeness Blog.  Thank you for taking the stroll with us today.

Sift!  "Give me Factions, Give me Fractions, but still give me Fiction!"  Is the meaning behind all inventions in fiction tactical?  In the Bible today... what is left after all the divisions, the sorting, and the inventions?

The answer to the question above is,
"Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands."

In Chapter 30 of Samuel, David learns that his place in Ziklag was raided, and all his men's wives were captured.  Before taking the help of an Egyptian, David consults with God who tells him that he may pursue the raiding party.  "Will I overtake them?" David asked of the Lord.  Surely! was the Lord's response.  In verse 15, David then asks the Egyptian who participated in the raid and who was left for dead on his way, to lead him back to where the raiding party was.  "Can you lead me down to this raiding party?"  David accepts the help of the Egyptian and recovers all that was lost including his two wives.

If the game of "Sift" is "What do you hear?"..  Then let's listen.

"Surely, you will overtake them." was the word of the Lord given to David, and in response David allowed only four hundred men from the raiding party to ride off.  The bible says, "Nothing was missing and none got away."

Over the course of this series, we've been tracking the Lord's favor to keep David's hands clean.  Back in blog 4, we read that David in fighting against the Negev, did not leave any alive.  Here however after returning to find the raiders, the word says that "none of them got away".  What do you hear?  In looking at Factions, Fractions, and Fictions, it is clear that the word holds may things for the ears to hear and the eyes to see when we ask the question, "Will I Overtake them?"

More curious that this is what happens among David's men in verse 21.
In Samuel 30 verse 21, it reads,

"Then David came to the two hundred men who had been too exhausted to follow him and who were left behind at the Besor Valley.  They came out to meet David and the men with him.  As David and his men approached, he asked them how they were.  But all the evil men and troublemakers among David's followers said, "Because they did not go out with us, we will not share with them the plunder we recovered.  However, each man may take his wife and children and go."

David replied, "No, my brothers, you must not do that with what the Lord has given us.  He has protected us and delivered into our hands the raiding party that came against us."  The men then challenged David and said.. Who will listen to what you say?

In response to their question, the Lord allowed David to leap forward into his inherited blessing to become king of Israel.  While David was creating this ordinance by faith in the Lord's promises, the King of Israel was about to fall on his own sword in battle with the Philistines.  "The share of the man who stayed with the supplies is to be the same as that of him who went down to the battle.  All will share alike."

The Bible says, David made this statute and ordinance for Israel from that day to this.

Coming up in blog 6 of "Sift", The Road2Wholeness Blog will recap the series and we'll take a look at the distinctions between the goat and the sheep.

Remember to go within that you may never go without.  The God within you awaits you.  Until our paths collide again, I wish you ... Peace, Love, Life, and Complete Wholeness in Christ.
