Welcome back to The Road2Wholeness Blog... Thank you for taking the read today! We’re in the new series “Lord! ASAP” We
continue with conversations with God in this series about prayer.
In the last blog, the question was asked by the Angel of the
Lord… “Where have you come from and where are you going?” The answer was… “I’m running..” In this blog, God asks, “Where are you?”
Let’s find out where this question is taken
from, who God is speaking to, and what the answer was.
Let’s go to Genesis 3:6-10.
This is the well-known account of man’s fall from grace. After Adam eats from the fruit offered to him
by Eve, their eyes were opened, and the bible says they realized they were
naked. In verse 9, God is walking in the
garden and asks the question, “Where are you?”
Then Adam answers, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because
I was naked; so I hid."
First, I’ll like to suggest that a life of prayer is simply
a life of conversations with God. Even
when we are not speaking, we converse with God by our breath; the breath God
gives and takes account of. Here God who
sees and knows all things is asking, “Where are you?” This tells me that God is interested in the
way Adam sees it, not the way He sees it.
It also shows that Adam has stepped out of completeness with God. Immediately after Adam states that he is
naked, God asks… “Have you eaten from
the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
By his answer God is aware that Adam is divided. The tree he has eaten from is called the tree
of the knowledge of good and evil.
Before Adam was divided, he prophesied about things God
created. If you recall, God put Adam to
sleep, and brought Eve to being by his rib.
The bible does not say that God woke Adam up, but that God brought Eve
to Adam and Adam identified her. Now in
his division he is hiding. He becomes aware
of his nakedness, and God clothes him in a garment of skin. Before we go too far, let me say that for believers
in Christ, we trade our garment of skin in times of nakedness for the garment
of grace.
In Genesis verse 3:21, God says, “The man has now become
like one of us, knowing good and evil.
He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree
of life and eat, and live forever.” In
verse 24, it reads, “After He drove the man out, he placed on the east side of
the Garden of Eden Cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to
guard the way to the tree of life.
In the gospels Jesus says He did not come to bring peace but
a sword. He also says, I am the
life. It is clear here that Jesus holds
the flashing sword guarding the way to the tree of life. And here is where we are allowed to reach out
our hands and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever. Here is where we can stop hiding, and here is
also where we are not limited to the skin we’re in. Now when God says, “Where are you?” we can
answer, “In Christ.” And we can feel the
warmth of His grace as we answer.
So, in prayer, go boldly.
Speak to God as Adam spoke to God.
In times of rest, invite God to meet with you and even allow Him to
perform surgery. Let Him remove what
needs to be removed. Let Him form what
needs to be formed. Most importantly let
Him cause you to remember and prophesy about the things he’s created in you and
for you. In times of deep sleep,
remember to have conversations with God.
Thank you for taking the stroll with The Road2Wholeness Blog.
Remember to go within that you may never go without. The God within you awaits you. Until our paths collide again, I wish you... Peace, Love, Life, and Complete Wholeness in Christ.
