Beware and Be Aware of Negative Self-Talk!!

What are you really saying about yourself? Who are you in your eyes?

In learning to love ourselves more, one very important factor is to be conscious of thoughts going through our minds (the chatter as it pertains to oneself) and the feelings that are attached to those very thoughts. Most of what we think about ourselves have been with us for quite some time. Needless to say that we will need to do some uprooting. This process of uprooting however begins with awareness. Time to get diligent about policing our thoughts. This is the only way! When we truly believe and accept our beauty, no more will we say things like...."I don't look good in blue" or "I look pretty today". These are the types of things that at first glance don't seem to be a big deal but this is the cleverness of the subconscious. We must get to a place where we can catch the contradictions. Therefore, you might say...."pink seems to compliment my skin well" (highlighting the positive as oppose to the negative) or we can go even a step further by saying, "I am beautiful therefore I must look beautiful in any color" and "I am beautiful everyday". This is how we plant new seeds and develop new beliefs about self.

The second step to this process, once you've got yourself in check...you may need to bring it to the attention of other people that they need to watch what they are saying to you...and choose their words more thoughtfully. Now this might sound like fighting words to you but sometimes just as you weren't aware of your negative self-talk others aren't noticing what they're saying...In truth! For example, I'm a Hair Stylist and in the salon a lot of times you hear people saying..."Make Me Beautiful" or a stylist might say...."I'm going to make you beautiful".  And although we know that no ill intent is there....we have to begin correcting these words and phrases that we so commonly use. You may be tempted to feel like this is going a little overboard but let me stop you right now because words are seeds. You may not realize it, but you are saying to yourself that your beauty is outside of you, it's inconsistent, and that it can be paid for. LET ME SAY IT AGAIN, YOU ARE SAYING TO YOURSELF...MY BEAUTY IS OUTSIDE OF ME, IT'S INCONSISTENT, AND IT CAN BE PAID FOR.

If this is the kind of message that you want to send to yourself and pass on to your children then you can move on to the next browser but if you're not content with that message..Then come with me!!!
